Explore what media literacy is and why it is a crucial part of 21st-century eduation. Understand that close reading of nonfiction news builds literacy skills and background knowledge. Use the myON News platform to its full extent and understand how it works from both a student and teacher perspective. [Recommended for elementary teachers]
The purpose of this session will be to review the grammar units of instruction for grades 6-8 with teachers who have been trained in and have implemented the units over the last three years. Teachers will have the opportunity to ask/answer questions, share best practices, and discuss the updated sequencing of the program by grade level. Middle school teachers who have not been trained in the grammar program are also encouraged to join this session.
